Highmark Health is offering the Summer 2027 Applied Gen AI/Data Scientist Graduate Internship. The program targets graduate students eager to work at the forefront of Generative AI and healthcare innovation, including GenAI, LLMs, AI Agents, and related technologies.

Interns will contribute to the design, development, and evaluation of GenAI solutions supporting healthcare operations, member engagement, clinical workflows, and enterprise productivity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Pursuit of a graduate degree (full- or part-time) in an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Develop GenAI-powered applications and prototypes for healthcare workflows.
• Evaluate and optimize LLM outputs for real-world use cases.
• Research advanced AI techniques and healthcare-focused GenAI use cases.
• Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams across the organization.
• Document findings and present recommendations to technical and business audiences.
• Participate in mentorship and innovation-focused projects while applying research.
