Job summary

Highmark Health is offering a Summer 2027 Applied Gen AI/Data Scientist Graduate Internship. The role targets graduate students eager to apply Generative AI, LLMs, AI Agents, and related AI technologies to healthcare challenges and member experiences.

You will work on GenAI-powered applications, participate in prompt engineering, RAG, and orchestration frameworks, and gain hands-on experience across the AI lifecycle with experienced researchers and engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Pursuit of a graduate degree preferred or in progress.
• Master’s or Ph.D. in CS/Data Science/AI/ML/Software Engineering or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop GenAI-powered apps and prototypes for healthcare use cases.
• Evaluate and optimize LLM outputs and prompts.
• Research advanced AI techniques and validate healthcare-focused use cases.
• Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to design experiments.
• Document findings and present recommendations to technical and business audiences.
