Amazon Advertising - Creative X is seeking a Sr. Manager of Applied Science to lead a team of scientists in building scalable GenAI-enabled creative understanding and safety systems.

You will own end-to-end research programs, mentor managers, partner with product and engineering, and set the scientific direction for quality, safety, and decision benchmarks. You will hire and grow talent, define roadmaps, advance multimodal models, and ensure production delivery aligns with business objectives,

Qualifications

• 5+ years leading applied science or ML teams with 2+ years of managing other leads.
• 7+ years in CV, multimodal understanding, or content moderation.
• Proven track record delivering production ML for content understanding and safety.
• PhD or MS with extensive CS/ML experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the scientific direction for creative quality assessment, content moderation and trust and safety, evaluation and benchmarking, and multimodal content understanding.
• Directly lead a team of applied scientists while developing subordinate leads and managers as the portfolio grows.
• Drive end-to-end applied science programs with high ambiguity, scale, and complexity, and ensure production models.
• Advance evaluation science: define metrics and benchmarks for quality, safety, and brand compliance.
• Research and apply CV, vision-language, and multimodal approaches including quality scoring and attribute extraction.
• Recruit, mentor, and grow high-performing scientists and managers; raise hiring and technical bar.
• Establish planning, reviews, and cross-functional partnerships with product and engineering.
