Amazon Advertising’s Creative X group seeks a Senior Manager of Applied Science to lead end-to-end creative understanding research and production. You will guide a team of applied scientists, direct managers, and align research with product and engineering goals across safety, moderation, and quality assessment.

The role requires steering long-term research with near-term delivery, setting scientific direction, and hiring the best talent to scale a growing organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years leading applied science teams, including managers.
• 7+ years in computer vision, multimodal understanding, or content moderation.
• Experience delivering production ML models for content understanding.
• PhD or Master’s with 7+ years in CS/ML field.

Responsibilities

• Own the scientific direction for creative quality assessment, safety, and moderation.
• Directly lead a team of applied scientists and develop subordinate leads and managers.
• Drive end-to-end applied science programs with high ambiguity and scale.
• Define evaluation benchmarks and metrics for the organization.
• Research and apply CV, vision-language, and multimodal approaches.
• Recruit and grow high-performing scientists and science managers.
• Establish planning, design reviews, and cross-functional partnerships.
