Job summary

New Braunfels Chamber seeks an Educational Aide to supervise students assigned to in-school suspension (ISS) and help maintain a highly structured, orderly classroom environment under the guidance of a certified teacher and the principal.

You will support instructional tasks, monitor attendance and behavior, assist with assignments, and communicate with campus staff to ensure consistency and compliance with district policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Educational Aide III certification required.
• Three years of experience as a classroom aide OR 30 semester hours of college credit with emphasis on child growth and development.

Responsibilities

• Work with certified teacher and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom environment.
• Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher.
• Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
• Distribute, collect, and check student assignments for accuracy.
• Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teachers.
• Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and IEP.
• Record student attendance and discipline referrals using personal computer.
• Supervise students assigned to ISS during lunch and bathroom breaks.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
• Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervise students assigned to in-school suspension (ISS) for disciplinary reasons. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment. Work under the general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of a certified teacher on a daily basis.

Education / Certification:

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Valid educational aide III certification.*

Special Knowledge / Skills:

1. Ability to work well with children.
2. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
3. Ability to use personal computer.

Experience / Other Requirements:

1. Three years of experience as a classroom aide.
