Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking a Java Engineer with Gen AI experience for a long-term contract in the Charlotte, NC or West Des Moines, IA area. The role involves developing Java/Spring Boot microservices, building RESTful APIs, and applying AI-assisted development tools.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years experience in Java engineering
• Proficient in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices
• Experience with React or frontend UI work a plus
• Familiarity with AI tooling and Copilot is preferred
• Knowledge of Kafka or Pub/Sub and event-driven patterns
• Experience with cloud-ready Java applications and CI/CD processes
• Understanding of secure SDLC and API design best practices
• Hands-on with Gen AI features and agentic AI concepts a plus

Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, debug, and document features using Java and Spring Boot
• Build and consume RESTful APIs supporting microservices workflows
• Work on AI-assisted development tasks (Copilot, Gen AI)
• Contribute to frontend/UI tasks with Angular or React when needed
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to deliver Home Lending solutions
• Learn and apply event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub) in projects
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and code reviews
• Support cloud deployment and secure development practices
