Job description

We are seeking an App Dev Migration SME to lead the transformation of our application portfolio as we move to Google Cloud. You will be the bridge between our software developers and the cloud infrastructure team, ensuring our applications are \\"Cloud Native\\" and ready to perform.

What you’ll do:

Application Audits: Look under the hood of our current software to decide the best \\"move strategy.\\" You’ll decide if an app should stay as-is or be \\"broken down\\" into smaller, more efficient pieces (Microservices).

Containerization: Lead the effort to wrap our applications in \\"containers\\" (using tools like Docker or GKE) so they can run anywhere without breaking.

Modernization Lead: Move apps away from old, heavy servers and into modern Google tools like Cloud Run or App Engine that only cost money when someone is actually using the app.

CI/CD Pipeline Setup: Work with the Automation team to build \\"assembly lines\\" (Cloud Build) so that when a developer writes new code, it is automatically tested and moved into the cloud.

API Management: Use tools like Apigee to make sure our different applications can talk to each other and to outside services securely.

What we’re Looking For:

The Developer Background: You used to be a coder (Java, Python, .NET, or Go), so you understand the \\"pain points\\" developers face during a move.

Container Expert: You are a pro at Kubernetes (GKE) and understand how to manage applications in a containerized world.

Strategic Thinker: You know when to \\"Lift and Shift\\" (speed) versus when to \\"Refactor\\" (quality).

GCP Specialist: You know the Google Cloud app catalog inside and out, specifically Serverless and Managed Database options.

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $41.61/hour - $65.01/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
