OxyChem is seeking a Chemical Operator for its Geismar, Louisiana facility. The role focuses on safe operation of process equipment, routine inspections, and prompt response to abnormal conditions. You will monitor temperatures, pressures, and flow while maintaining shift logs and supporting maintenance tasks.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED and 2+ years in a chemical plant or similar setting. Proficiency in English and MS Office is essential; SAP experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of chemical plant/mfg experience preferred.
• Strong math, reading, and mechanical reasoning skills.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and callouts.
• English reading/writing/speaking required; strong communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain environmental, health and safety standards for the unit.
• Inspect operations, troubleshoot issues, and respond to emergencies.
• Operate field equipment and monitor process variables with instrumentation.
• Log readings, lab results, and shift production data for relief planning.
• Coordinate with maintenance and engineering; initiate work requests in SAP.
• Support Emergency Response Team activities as needed.
