Job summary

OxyChem is seeking an experienced Electrician for our Chemical Manufacturing Facility in Geismar, Louisiana. The role focuses on maintaining plant electrical systems, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance with environmental & health standards.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma/GED with Electrical NCCER and at least 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance. An associate degree is a plus; strong safety awareness and ability to work in a team are essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain protection of the environment, health, and safety at all times.
• Perform calibration, repair, and integrity checks on plant electrical equipment.
• Develop and implement preventive/predictive maintenance to maximize uptime.
• Provide technical assistance to production and engineering on electrical equipment.
• Maintain and document department records, test equipment, spares, and vendor resources.
• Stay informed on current safety, technical, and quality practices.

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Electrician within our Chemical Manufacturing Facility located in Geismar, Louisiana.

Essential Job Duties:

• Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and or transport our products, as our highest priority.
• Provide attention to detail, and dedication to work in order to ensure reliability of the work site as well as high quality product.
• Perform calibration, repair, and integrity checks of plant electrical equipment to assure that accuracy, functionality, and reliability are within acceptable limits.
• Develop and implement a preventive and predictive maintenance schedule for plant electrical equipment/instrumentation that will assure a high on stream time for equipment.
• Provide technical assistance to production and engineering groups on application of new and modification of existing electrical equipment/instrumentation.
• Maintain, update, report, requisition, and document the I & E department records and resources to assure availability and dependability of test equipment, tools, spare parts, outside repairs, specifications, equipment history, vendor resources, and library resources.
• Continuously improve by staying informed and educated on current safety, technical, and quality practices.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED Electrical NCCER
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance of electrical systems.
• Ability to effectively function and excel in a team environment as well as work independently with minimum supervision.
• High safety and environmental awareness.
• Must be able to properly and safely wear all required PPE such as safety glasses, hard hat, steel toed shoes, respirators, etc

Additional Desired Qualifications:

• Associate or equivalent degree from a vocational or technical institute preferred
