Job summary

The International in New York City is offering a Summer 2027 internship for motivated students in engineering or environmental science. You will assist with analyses, design, and field documentation across U.S. projects, gaining wide-ranging experience.

Interns will support AutoCAD drawing tasks, data management, and report preparation while learning from our team. Travel and fieldwork may be required, and a valid driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a related degree (B.S./M.S.) in civil or geotechnical engineering.
• Minimum two years in a technical degree program.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel on assignment and work in the field.
• Valid driver's license and ability to work on active construction sites.

Responsibilities

Description Your role at GEI. GEI’s New York City office is seeking motivated interns to assist with projects throughout the U.S. in Summer 2027. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from our team and gain a wide range of experience in the fields of engineering or environmental science.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

• Assist with engineering and/or scientific analyses and design.
• Perform computations, prepare spreadsheets, and prepare and edit drawings using AutoCAD.
• Assist with preparing proposals and reports.
• Assist with data management and analysis, and preparation of field documentation and reports

Minimum Qualifications

• Pursuit of one of the following:
• B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering. Soil mechanics, structural analysis, or similar course work preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in a technical degree program.
• Excellent verbal andwritten communication skills.
• Willingness to travel on assignment, if needed.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to work in the field, as needed.
• Ability to perform field work in active construction sites without restrictions, and in inclement weather, if required.
