Job summary

Capital Region BOCES is seeking an instructor to teach adults in high school equivalency (GED) preparation across multiple locations in the Capital Region. The role focuses on classroom instruction and alignment with NYSED requirements.

You will implement data collection, monitor progress, help students set short- and long-term goals, and document achievements over several years. A fingerprint background check is required.

Qualifications

• Valid NYS teacher certification or be able to meet requirements for the Adult Education certificate.
• Experience working with students in alternative school settings.
• Must possess good written and verbal skills.
• Working knowledge and understanding of the ASISTS Data Management System desirable.
• The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check.

Responsibilities

• To instruct adults (18 years and older) in high school equivalency preparation within a classroom setting.
• Implement consistent data collection procedures, check data accuracy, establish follow-up strategies, and follow assessment procedures.
• Support student creation of short-term and long-term goals as required by NYSED.
• Record student achievements over multiple years.
