Job summary

The KDOC Instructor provides high-quality instruction to incarcerated adult learners at Lansing Correctional Facility. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week position supports students in GED preparation and pathways toward education and career outcomes, collaborating with KDOC staff and navigators.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of teaching experience, with duties spanning instruction, assessment, and records management to ensure successful reentry preparation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, social sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching adult learners, GED preparation, or K–12 instruction.
• Must pass all KDOC background checks and security clearances.

Responsibilities

• Delivers high-quality instruction in adult basic education and GED preparation.
• Assesses student skill levels and develops individualized learning plans.
• Maintains a structured, supportive classroom environment consistent with KDOC expectations.
• Coordinates with KDOC staff, Adult Education Navigators, and reentry personnel to support student goals.
