Job summary

The Burlington Community School District is seeking a Gear Up Iowa Coach (GUI) for approximately 30 hours per week (about 0.75 FTE). This part-time role is grant-funded to support GEAR UP cohorts and college readiness services in our Burlington area schools.

The GUI Coach will coordinate college and career exploration, assist students with college planning, and help staff implement grant activities. The position requires a Bachelor's degree, youth experience, strong organization, and the ability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with youth.
• Proven experience with detail oriented tasks.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Pass a background check, which includes a Federal Background Check, state child abuse and sex offender registry check, and motor vehicle check.
• Able to work nights, weekends, and travel overnight.
• Able to submit paperwork and updates in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate GUI cohort activities and plan events for GUI cohort in collaboration with school counselors.
• Provide GUI students with assistance in academic achievement, school success and life skills.
• Work collaboratively with site-based counseling and administrative teams to implement GUI objectives.
• Collaborate with staff to promote a college-going mindset and routine.
• Assist district staff in gathering and submitting financial documentation.
• Prepare, monitor, complete, and submit documentation related to plan implementation, including sign-in sheets and calendars.
• Promote GUI opportunities and resources to all cohort students and families.
• Assist in organizing School Planning Team Meetings and lead events focused on college preparedness.
• Complete monthly documentation and attend required meetings.
