Job summary

Bowdoin College’s Bowdoin Outing Club Equipment Room is seeking an Operations Supervisor to oversee the gear room, direct student staff during shifts, and drive daily workflow with clear instruction in gear repair.

You will monitor equipment inventory, track usage, and order replacements based on lifecycle and program changes, while prepping gear for seasonal transitions and supporting coordination with the BOC Director to enhance overall gear room operations.

Qualifications

• Associates or vocational/technical degree required.
• 1–3 years of experience in a similar role.
• Must be eligible to become van certified at Bowdoin.
• Knowledge of outdoor apparel and equipment maintenance and repair.
• Ability to supervise gear room staff and create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Ability to explain proper use of outdoor equipment and repair gear.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the equipment room and supervise student employees during gear room shifts.
• Direct daily workflow, delegate tasks, and provide instruction in gear repair.
• Monitor equipment inventory, track usage, and order replacements based on lifecycle and program changes.
• Oversee outfitting and de-issue for weekly trips and seasonal transitions, and prep equipment for upcoming seasons.
