Job summary

City Electric Supply, headquartered in Dallas, TX, seeks a Gear Specialist to provide estimates and blueprint takeoffs via our IMS system for bid jobs. The role requires technical aptitude and a willingness to deepen knowledge of gear and power distribution, with Siemens gear knowledge preferred and experience with similar manufacturers welcome.

Training is provided on our internal IMS quoting tool, and the candidate will join a team that collaborates across branches and the CES Online division

Qualifications

• 2+ years of electrical switchgear or power systems experience.
• Hands-on experience with Siemens switchgear preferred, or comparable manufacturers.
• Experience reading and interpreting one-line diagrams.
• Experience performing material take-offs from electrical drawings.
• Prior project or inside sales experience with customer relationships and quotes.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the Subject Matter Expert with emphasis on Switchgear and Power Distribution.
• Analyze customer one-line diagrams and schematics and determine switchgear requirements.
• Prepare cost estimates of material.
• Qualify BoM requests and take-offs.
• Read and interpret electrical specifications, drawings, and project docs.
• Collaborate with branches and customer service.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
• Review and follow up on all aspects of Switchgear projects.
• Work cross-functionally within the CES Online division.
• Develop and maintain positive relations with customers, coworkers and supervisors.
• Partner with the community.

Summary

The Gear Specialist serves as an essential resource for our customers. The position is responsible for providing estimates and blueprint takeoffs utilizing our internal quotation software for bid jobs. The successful candidate will be technically minded with the willingness to learn and expand their knowledge of Gear and Power Distribution. Siemens gear knowledge is highly preferred. Experience with similar manufacturers such as Eaton, Square D, ABB, or GE is also welcome. Training is provided on our proprietary IMS quoting system.

Essential Job Functions

• Acting as the Subject Matter Expert with an emphasis on Switchgear and Power Distribution.

• Reviews, identifies and follows up on all aspects of the Switchgear projects.
• Works cross functionally within the CES Online division.
• Ability to develop and maintain positive relations with customers, coworkers and supervisors.
• Partner with the community.

Qualifications: Education/Experience

• 2+ years of electrical switchgear or power systems application experience.
• Hands on experience with Siemens switchgear preferred, or comparable manufacturers such as Eaton, Square D, ABB, or GE is required.
• Experience reading and interpreting one line diagrams.
• Experience performing material take offs from electrical drawings.
• Prior project or inside sales experience, with a track record of managing customer relationships and closing quotes.

Competencies

• Proficient in reading and/or interpreting electrical specifications and electrical drawings.
• Understanding of the different types of equipment typically encountered, including switchgear, transformers, and motors.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with MS Office applications like Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

Work Environment

This job operates in both a professional office and distribution center environment. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In addition, this role will need to be proficient when it comes to the operation of all distribution center equipment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing. The employee must be able to lift and move items up to 75 pounds.
