This position reports to the Production Supervisor and involves setting up and operating multiple gear-cutting and finishing machines, as listed in the essential duties and responsibilities section.

  1. Set up and operate gear-cutting/finishing machines, such as gear shapers and Hobbs.
  2. Machine spline or gear teeth on metal blanks according to instructions, gear types, and best practices.
  3. Deburr finished parts as required.
  4. Determine gear dimensions, specifications, fixtures, cutters, and machine settings based on work orders and prints.
  5. Verify conformance of parts to specifications using inspection tools.
  6. Maintain accurate transactions in the ERP system.
  7. Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  8. Perform basic gear cutting machine maintenance.
  9. Ensure correct quantity of teeth, type of cutter, and tolerances as per drawings.
  10. Record scrap quantities and complete corrective actions.
  11. Select appropriate feed rate, cutting speed, and tools for each operation.
  12. Train other employees and assist in other departments as needed.
  13. Follow ISO procedures to prevent problems, document issues, contribute to solutions, and protect the environment.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 years related experience/training; or equivalent.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
