Job summary

The Hartford's Enterprise Data Services team is seeking a Data Engineer to design scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, GCS) and to implement metadata-driven governance and automation across the enterprise.

You will partner with governance, product, and platform teams, use AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, and push CI/CD, observability, and DataOps practices to deliver secure, cost-efficient data solutions across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, engineering, IT, or related field.
• Strong Python and SQL for data engineering and automation.
• Experience with cloud data pipelines, ETL/ELT, and data governance concepts.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable, production-ready data pipelines on GCP (BigQuery, GCS).
• Develop integrations between data platforms to enable metadata discovery, lineage, and automation.
• Design and deploy secure, observable, cost-efficient cloud data solutions.
• Embed governance controls into engineering workflows through metadata capture and lineage propagation.
