Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking an experienced Performance Engineering Cloud Lead at the Director level in the United States to define and drive performance engineering for GCP migration.

You will lead across latency, throughput, scalability, resiliency, and observability, partnering with Architecture, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to set standards and govern performance for cloud-native applications.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Performance Engineering, with distributed systems and large-scale customer-facing applications.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-native architecture.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes/GKE, cloud networking, cloud databases, containers, and observability platforms.
• Experience defining performance strategies for cloud migration or modernization initiatives.
• Deep understanding of scalability and resiliency patterns including autoscaling, caching, multi-region deployments.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the Performance Engineering strategy for GCP transformation, embedding performance, scalability, resiliency, and capacity considerations into architecture decisions from inception.
• Partner with Architecture, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to evaluate cloud-native designs and deployment patterns.
• Lead performance assessments, proofs-of-concept, benchmarks, and comparative architecture studies with data-driven recommendations.
• Establish cloud performance engineering standards, guardrails, and non-functional requirements.
• Design performance validation frameworks covering load, stress, endurance, scalability, failover, and resiliency testing.
• Establish baselines and capacity models to support multi-region cloud architectures.
• Mentor and provide technical leadership across the Performance Engineering organization.
