Job summary

66degrees is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to build and maintain complex infrastructure and data systems on Google Cloud Platform for our global clients. This 4-week contract role is remote and focused on performance, scalability, and security of critical cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on with GCP and cloud infrastructure design, deployment and management.
• IaC tools: Terraform, Deployment Manager, or similar platforms.
• Deep knowledge of GCP services (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, Networking, IAM) and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Ansible is required.
• Proficient in Python and Bash scripting for automation.
• Strong security and compliance understanding (CIS, GDPR, HIPAA).
• Excellent problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of scalable, resilient infrastructure on GCP in collaboration with architects.
• Drive IaC implementation and automation for provisioning and management.
• Guide DevOps adoption to build CI/CD pipelines in the cloud.
• Enforce security measures and data privacy compliance in GCP.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for all infrastructure components.
• Develop backup and disaster recovery strategies for mission-critical systems.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize infrastructure for efficiency.
• Diagnose complex issues and provide expert guidance and support.
• Document cloud architecture, configurations and processes for knowledge sharing.
• Lead cross-functional work with data scientists, engineers, analysts, and software developers.
