Job summary

BFL Construction, a division of Revird, seeks an Estimator to help drive profitable bids and build strong client and team relationships in the Phoenix and Tucson markets.

You will estimate projects from conceptual to tender, collaborate with the estimating director, and champion risk reduction while aligning with BFL’s CORE Values—R.E.A.L.—throughout the tender and pre-construction process.

Qualifications

• 5+ years estimating on projects from $100k to $100M.
• Postsecondary diploma or degree in building technology or construction management (asset).
• Experience estimating commercial, multi-family residential and institutional buildings.
• Client facing and CMAR interview experience desirable.
• Experience with General Contractors and managing multiple estimates.
• Experience with Hard Bid and Public Projects.
• Familiar with drawing reviews, contract administration, document management, and scheduling software.
• Knowledge of bid preparation including quantity take-off, sub-trade procurement, pricing and bid closing.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Advanced computer skills: MS Office, MS Project, Procore, Building Connected, estimating software; AI capabilities in estimating.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain bid strategies and policies to improve efficiencies.
• Establish positive relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams.
• Create polished estimates to drive profitability and risk reduction.
• Coordinate with department director to refine estimation processes and systems.
• Collaborate with project teams regarding general conditions, methodology and schedules in Tender/Pre-Construction.
• Prepare full cost estimates for conceptual, design-build, CMAR, lump sum, or general tender.
• Interpret drawings/specifications to define scope of estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and manage tender packages and scopes of work.
• Lead handoff to operations and ensure clear communication at project kick-off.

Position Summary

As an Estimator reporting into the Estimating Director, you understand that building projects and building relationships go hand in hand. You will be responsible for estimating projects and building strong relationships in both Phoenix and Tucson Markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain awareness of current marketplace and trends to gain and maintain our competitive advantage and develop effective bid strategies.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, public and project teams.
• Champion risk reduction and profitability by creating polished estimates.
• In Collaboration with the department director, develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiencies within the Estimating department.
• Consult and collaborate with broad project teams with regards to general conditions, construction methodology and schedules during the Tender/Pre-Construction process.
• Prepare and coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build, C&M, lump sum, or general tender for a variety of projects.
• Interpret documentation, specifications, and design drawings to define scope/contents of estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from tender drawings; issue tender packages and create scopes of work and lead hard tender closings.
• Spearhead handoff process to operations team for newly awarded projects. Ensure open communication during project kick-off.
• Live and model the behaviors as aligned with BFL’s CORE Values—R.E.A.L.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience performing estimating work on construction projects ranging from $100,000 to $100 million.
• Postsecondary diploma or degree in building technology, construction management or quantity surveying CEC, PQS or similar designations considered an asset.
• Experience estimating commercial, multi-family residential and institutional buildings.
• Comfortable being Client facing and CMAR interviewing experience highly desirable
• Experience working for/with General Contractors and managing multiple estimates at a time.
• Experience with Hard Bid and Public Projects
• Familiarity with drawing reviews, contract administration, document management, scheduling software, change order procedures.
• Knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take-off procedures, sub-trade procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Procore, Building Connected, and various estimating software’s.
• Experience in utilizing AI capabilities to increase production and accuracy of estimates.
