You will ensure gauges and related devices are calibrated, documented, and available for production and inspection needs. You will coordinate with external calibration vendors, maintain calibration records, and verify equipment meets established tolerances.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T knowledge preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and documentation discipline.

As an innovative company offering a wide array of products, we strive to continuously develop new technology and drive process improvement.Position SummaryGwynedd Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Gauge Technician to support the calibration, maintenance, and control of measurement equipment and gauges throughout the manufacturing facility. This position will be responsible for ensuring that gauges, measuring equipment, and applicable manufacturing equipment are properly calibrated, accurate, and available for production and inspection needs.The Gauge Technician will work both on the manufacturing floor and in an administrative capacity, maintaining calibration records, coordinating calibration services with external vendors, monitoring calibration schedules, and verifying that equipment meets established requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and measurement skills, the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, and experience working with precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and control gauges.Knowledge of GD&T, gauge thread tolerances, and ISO 17025 is highly preferred.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage and maintain the company's gauge and calibration program to ensure measurement equipment remains accurate and within required tolerances.Coordinate with external calibration vendors to schedule calibration services, repairs, certifications, and other gauge-related needs.Maintain accurate calibration records, certifications, due dates, and equipment histories.Monitor calibration schedules and proactively identify equipment approaching or exceeding its calibration due date.Verify calibrated equipment is properly identified, documented, and returned to service.Perform in-house inspections and verification of gauges and measuring equipment as applicable.Work directly on the manufacturing floor to identify, inspect, and address calibration-related needs for machines and measurement equipment.Ensure manufacturing equipment and measuring devices are calibrated correctly and meet established specifications.Utilize precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.Demonstrate a strong understanding of control gauges and gauge tolerances.Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and applicable technical documentation.Interpret gauge thread requirements and tolerances.Support the identification and resolution of equipment that is out of calibration or otherwise determined to be inaccurate.Assist with determining the appropriate disposition of equipment that does not meet calibration requirements.Maintain organized documentation and records related to calibration activities.Communicate with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments regarding calibration requirements and equipment status.Support audits and provide calibration documentation and records as requested.Ensure calibration activities are performed in accordance with company procedures and applicable quality standards.Assist with continuous improvement of the company's gauge and calibration processes.Perform other duties as assigned.RequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent.Previous experience working with precision measurement equipment, gauges, or calibration programs in a manufacturing or quality environment.Hands-on experience using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring equipment.Experience working with control gauges and understanding gauge tolerances.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.Understanding of measurement principles, tolerances, and specifications.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with external vendors.PreferredExperience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 calibration and laboratory requirements.Previous experience coordinating calibration services with outside vendors.Experience working in a precision manufacturing, machining, firearms, aerospace, defense, or similar environment.Experience with gauge calibration software or an electronic calibration management system.Formal training or certification in calibration, metrology, quality, or a related technical discipline.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong understanding of precision measurement and calibration principles.Ability to identify and understand measurement tolerances and gauge requirements.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.Working knowledge of dimensional inspection equipment and control gauges.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to troubleshoot calibration and measurement issues.Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.Ability to prioritize multiple calibration requirements and deadlines.Comfortable working both independently and in a manufacturing environment.Strong computer skills and ability to maintain electronic and written records.Physical and Work Environment Requirements:This position is based in a manufacturing environment and may require the following over extended periods of time up to a full 8-hour work shift (excluding lunch and breaks): stand, walk, sit, squat or bend, kneel and rise, lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to — and occasionally exceeding — 50 pounds, view a computer or other digital screen, work on a computer, workstation or comparable system, and make accurate entries in such systems. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills are required for detailed assembly and precision work. Work may take place in areas with varying temperatures or no climate control, varying noise levels, and production equipment in motion. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in designated areas at all times as required by company policy.
