Job description

General Dynamics Land Systems is a global leader in the design, development, production, support, and sustainment of tracked and wheeled military equipment, specifically the Abrams Main Battle Tank and the Stryker Family of Wheeled Combat Vehicles.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Develop and design gauge requirements for checking parts based on accuracy, cost, and areas of use.
  2. Monitor and initiate in-house calibration of equipment by outside sources.
  3. Review, determine impact on product, and disposition gauges that do not meet calibration requirements.
  4. Locate stored gauges, order replacements, or acquire new gauges to maintain quality standards.
  5. Design and update calibration procedures, inspection work instructions, and acceptance criteria for specialized gauges and fixtures.
  6. Review process operation sheets for completeness and proper gauge assignments.
  7. Collaborate with Tool Engineering to determine effective operator in-process measurements and additional inspection requirements.
  8. Develop and maintain inspection operation check sheets based on design requirements.
  9. Manage scheduled process control samples and reporting documents.
  10. Program CMM software (PCDMIS) to verify production parts.
  11. Dispostion potential discrepant material and determine subsequent process steps.
  12. Perform other tasks within Quality Assurance as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be a US Person.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • College Degree in Engineering or Business preferred.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and computer skills required.
  • Ability to interface with various production and quality personnel within a unionized workforce.

Work Environment/Demands:

This role is performed in both office and heavy manufacturing environments. It requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, and extended personal interactions. Work involves exposure to noise, odors, temperature variations, and moving equipment.
