Job description

General Dynamics Land Systems is a global leader in the design, development, production, support, and sustainment of tracked and wheeled military equipment, specifically the Abrams Main Battle Tank and the Stryker Family of Wheeled Combat Vehicles.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Develops and designs gauge requirements for checking parts based on accuracy, cost, and areas of use.
  2. Monitors and initiates in-house calibration of equipment by outside sources.
  3. Reviews, determines impact on product, and dispositions gauges that do not meet calibration requirements.
  4. Locates stored gauges, orders replacements, or acquires new gauges to maintain quality standards.
  5. Designs and updates calibration procedures, inspection work instructions, and acceptance criteria for specialized gauges and fixtures.
  6. Reviews process operation sheets for completeness and correct gauge assignments.
  7. Collaborates with Tool Engineering to determine effective in-process measurements and additional inspection requirements.
  8. Develops and maintains inspection check sheets based on design requirements.
  9. Maintains scheduled process control samples and reports.
  10. Programs CMM software (PCDMIS) for verifying production parts.
  11. Disposes of potentially discrepant material and determines subsequent process steps.
  12. Performs additional tasks in Quality Assurance as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be a US Person.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • College degree in Engineering or Business preferred.
  • Ability to interface with various production and quality teams within a unionized workforce.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and computer skills required.

Work Environment/Demands:

This role is performed in both office and heavy manufacturing environments. It involves standing, walking, sitting, bending, extended personal interactions, and the use of standard office equipment. Exposure to noise, odors, temperature variations, and moving equipment is possible.
