Job summary

OTG is hiring a Gate Hold Server at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). You will be on the front line delivering guest service, beverages, and menus while maintaining a spotless station. You will know the menu, upsell items, and ensure orders are entered accurately in the POS system.

The role requires 18+ years old, full English fluency, ability to lift 35 lbs and a flexible schedule, including nights and holidays. OTG fosters a fast-paced, guest-first environment at the airport.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome guests promptly and with a smile.

• Enter orders into the iPad/computer system and upsell where appropriate.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of the working area.
• Assist other servers as needed and keep the station organized.

The Gate Hold Server is responsible for delivering the OTG guest experience and will be our front line--the point of contact for our guests. A Gate Hold Server must possess strong interpersonal skills, coupled with a sunny disposition, and a positive outlook. Adhering to the OTG Core Steps of Service is an absolute must, while working in restaurants assigned by our management team.

In This Role, You Will:

• Greet and welcome guests quickly and pleasantly, with a smile
• Delivering beverages and menus promptly
• Communicating all daily food and drink specials
• Demonstrating knowledge of menus and beer selections
• Assisting guests in entering all orders into the iPad/computer system
• Offering menu items and up-selling to guests
• Preparing hot and cold drinks and mixed non-alcoholic drinks
• Demonstrating appropriate wine service techniques
• Assisting other servers, as needed
• Sweeping and mopping premises, as required
• Clearing tables
• Keep a spotless working environment through regular cleaning and sanitizing
• Participating in daily side-work tasks
• Maintain a clean, neat, and well-groomed appearance
• Maintain knowledge of airport, terminal and restaurants; offer information, recommendations, etc.
• Communicate any issues or quality of service problems to the MOD immediately
• Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications/Criteria:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Fully conversational in English
• Able to lift 35lbs. in weight
• Must be mobile and able to stand for extended periods, to stoop, kneel, and crouch
• Must be available to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, holidays, and bad weather conditions--must be flexible
