Job summary

JAXPORT is seeking a part-time Gate Access Attendant to support controlled entry at Buck Island, where drivers deliver loads for processing. The role ensures accurate verification of loads by scanning barcodes and transmitting data to Engineering for billing and tracking.

This position is part-time with a schedule issued in advance based on operational needs, and requires maintaining a valid TWIC and a valid driver’s license. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Verify driver identity and credentials upon arrival at Buck Island.
• Use handheld devices to scan barcodes on loads and confirm material type.
• Log and transmit load data to Engineering for billing and inventory tracking.
• Maintain clear communication with drivers, site staff, and supervisors.
• Monitor gate activity for safe, compliant entry and exit.
• Report discrepancies or issues to management.
• Assist with traffic flow and queue management during peak periods.
