Job summary

Join Pratt & Whitney at our Columbus Engine Center in Georgia, where precision meets purpose. As a Mechanic, you’ll overhaul, repair, and assemble advanced jet engines powering commercial and military aircraft.

  • Use common hand tools and a variety of fixtures to assemble/disassemble and test a jet engine.
  • Ensure all assembly/disassembly steps comply with work instructions and quality standards through self- or peer-inspection of critical processes.
  • Monitor and ensure processes meet Safety, Quality and Delivery objectives.

Job Summary

Join Pratt & Whitney at our Columbus Engine Center, where precision meets purpose. As a Mechanic, you’ll play a critical role in the overhaul, repair, and assembly of advanced jet engines that power commercial and military aircraft around the world. Working in a hands-on, team-driven environment, you’ll apply your mechanical expertise to ensure engines are restored to peak performance, safety, and reliability. This is a 1st Shift position: Monday – Thursday 5:00 am – 3:30 pm

What You Will Do
  • Works under general supervision
  • Receives some direction on normal work activities and general instructions on new assignments or activities
  • Work as a member of a team responsible for turbine engine, engine module, or component maintenance in accordance with published work instructions and approved technical data.
  • Utilize common hand tools as well as a wide variety of tooling and fixtures to assemble/disassembly and test a jet engine.
  • Ensure all phases of assembly/disassembly as specified by work instructions, comply with required self-inspection or peer inspection of critical processes ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Monitor and ensure processes meet Safety, Quality and Delivery objectives.
Qualifications

You Must Have: High School Diploma or GED

Typically requires 3+ years of mechanical experience in manufacturing, maintenance, automotive, aviation, military, or a related technical field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Aviation engine overhaul and repair experience
  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License or Powerplant (P) Certificate
  • Hands-on experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Disassembly, Inspection, Assembly, or Turbine Engine Test Operations.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications and SAP

This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our engines. Pratt & Whitney Columbus, GA is a FAA regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Departments of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines.

Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing as a pre-employment contingency and also subject to ongoing random testing as an employee per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.
