Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking a qualified RN to join the Gastroenterology Lab on a day shift. The role requires a Texas RN license, BLS, and ACLS/ALS certification, with a preference for a BSN. Shifts are 10 hours from 6:45am to 4:15pm, and employment is PRN.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Must have current, valid RN license or Texas Board of Nursing license, or valid Compact RN license.
• Must have current Healthcare Provider BLS certification from AHA, ARC, or Military Training Network.
• Must have ALS or ACLS certification on hire or placement, from AHA, ARC, or Military Training Network.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a patient advocate and maintains positive relationships with Parkland staff and patients.
• Keeps up-to-date knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, and hospital policies.
• Performs patient assessments, monitors condition, and follows orders in a timely manner.
• Manages gastroenterology lab patients with varied medical conditions and appropriate medication administration.
• Administers sedation and analgesia and monitors patient status during procedures.
• Completes accurate documentation in patient care records and hospital documents.
• Provides direction to non-nursing staff and may serve as Charge Nurse on rotation.
• Acts as preceptor or trainer for nursing staff and students.
• Develops and conducts in-service education and contributes to quality improvement.
