Job description

General Overview:

A Gastroenterology Physician is needed for a locum position with flexibility in scheduling throughout the year and into 2026.

Schedule:

Candidates must be available to work at least one week per month for the rest of the year.

Specific Dates Include:

• August 18-22, August 25-29
• September 2-5, September 15-19, September 22-26, September 29-October 3
• October 6-10, October 20-24, October 27-31
• November 24-26, 28

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Conduct endoscopic procedures primarily in the OR, with possible clinic days.
• Manage 14-16 adult outpatients per day in the office/clinic setting.
• Required lower GI procedures include Endoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, and Colonoscopy.
• Required upper GI procedures include endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, banding of varices, and diagnostic procedures.
• While advanced therapeutic procedures are preferred, they are not mandatory.

Support and Facilities:

• Comprehensive OR support staff.
• Anesthesiology support includes both a CRNA and an Anesthesiologist present in the procedure room.

Requirements:

• Board Certified in Gastroenterology (ABMS or AOA).
• Active Maine license preferred; will consider high-quality candidates without.
• Certifications in ACLS and BLS are mandatory.
• COVID and flu vaccinations required.
• Experience with advanced procedures should be noted if applicable.

Other Information:

• Credentialing timeframe is 90 days.
• Onsite facilities include a lab and x-ray.
• EMR system used is Epic.

This position does not require any on-call or weekend duties. Full travel support will be provided for work-related travel.
