Job description

Position Overview

• Work approximately 8 hours per day on-site.
• Evaluate 5-10 hospital consult patients daily with varying endoscopy needs.
• Night call with 5-10 call-backs per month, no admissions.
• Patient focus: Adult only.

Work Schedule

• Coverage needed for 2 weeks per month in a one-week-on, one-week-off pattern.

Patient Encounters

• Expected 5-10 patients per shift.

Requirements

• Board Certification in Gastroenterology required.
• ACLS certification required.

Skills and Procedures Required Skills

• Upper GI Endoscopy:
• Biopsy
• Foreign body removal
• Fulguration of bleeder (cautery or laser)

• Injection of varices

• Lower GI Endoscopy:

• Colonoscopy
  • Biopsy
  • Excision of polyp

Preferred Skills

• Upper GI Endoscopy:
• ERCP (Diagnostic and Therapeutic)

• PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)

• Esophageal Procedures:

• Esophageal dilatation/manometry

• Manometry interpretation

• Small Bowel Biopsy

• Sigmoidoscopy:

• Flexible and Rigid

• Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

• Liver Biopsy
• Management of Sengstaken/Blakemore Tube
