Job description

GI Physician needed for ongoing coverage

Details:

• Location: Southern IL; Airport options close by
• Need: GI physician needed for inpatient and outpatient coverage
• When: Immediate need; quick credentialing possible
• Model: Inpatient coverage, procedures, outpatient clinic (1 to 1 days per week clinic)

Currently, an NP covers the outpatient clinic (Monday - Friday). The NP can see most patients, but some complex cases require a physician. Another GI physician provides services once a week for procedures and twice a month for clinic oversight. Additionally, a second GI physician performs EGDs and colonoscopies twice a week.

Typical workday: Rounding in the morning for consults, procedures or clinic, then rounding again in the afternoon/evening as needed.

Workload: Average 15 procedures/scopes per day; 22-24 patients in a full clinic day.

Procedures/cases: ERCPs (frequency to be quantified), GI bleeds, EGDs, colonoscopies, capsule endoscopy reads, PEG tube placement (possibly).

EMR: EPIC coming soon.

Support specialties: Hospitalist program, pulmonary critical care, cardiology, interventional cardiology, orthopedics, anesthesia, wound care, etc.

Ability to transfer higher acuity cases to affiliated tertiary care centers.
