Job Opportunity: Physician - Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology

Join our team at a premier medical facility located in Hickory, North Carolina. Our state-of-the-art institution is dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services to the community. We are currently seeking at least three full-time providers to deliver 24-hour coverage for our Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology department. This is a fantastic opportunity for professionals looking to make a significant impact in patient care.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Provide on-site shift coverage Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, including a 1-hour lunch break.
2. Manage call coverage from 5 PM to 8 AM Monday-Friday and on weekends from 8 AM Saturday to 8 AM Monday.
3. Respond to emergency gastrointestinal procedures, including endoscopic interventions and gastrointestinal bleeding cases.
4. Evaluate and manage suspected bowel obstructions or perforations needing immediate attention.
5. Consult with the Emergency Department and other medical teams regarding gastrointestinal complexities.
6. Oversee post-operative complications related to gastrointestinal cases, ensuring quality care in follow-ups.
7. Accurately document callback hours on timesheets for EHR audits.
8. Assist in routine care provided by non-GI specialists when necessary.

Qualifications:

• MD or DO degree with a valid and active medical license.
• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology.
• Fellowship training in Gastroenterology is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Experience in inpatient settings is advantageous.

License and Certification Requirements:

• Current state medical license (not required for temporary privileges).
• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology.
