Job summary
RWJBarnabas Health’s Newark Beth Israel Medical Center seeks a Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner to join the division of gastroenterology in Newark, NJ. The NP will work under the division director and collaborate with board‑certified gastroenterologists to diagnose and manage a broad range of GI conditions in ambulatory and inpatient settings.
The role requires an APN/RN license, FNP/AGNP certification, and DEA/CDS, CPR, ACLS/BLS.
Qualifications
- APN License is required
- RN License is required
- Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult‑Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP)
- DEA and CDS licensing
- CPR Certification
- ACLS and BLS certification
Responsibilities
- Actively identifies patient issues that require referral to another specialist and works with consultants
- Assesses, examines, evaluates and provides treatment for end‑stage disease management, pre‑transplant and post‑transplant patients referred to the office
- Work in both outpatient and inpatient settings
- Assist with disability, DME, prior authorizations or other forms
- Complete patient history and physicals for all procedures
- Identify patients eligible for advanced therapies and present at weekly meetings
- Provide on‑call coverage on rotating schedule
- Educate patients and families regarding advanced therapies, transplant care and follow‑ups
- Coordinate with RNs and medical assistants to ensure timely communication and testing
- Promote departmental teamwork
