Job summary

Caterpillar's 2027 Materials & Process Engineering Summer Intern program in San Diego offers hands-on experience in gas turbine product engineering. Under a mentor, you will tackle materials research, failure analysis, and design support for components and processes.

You will engage in simulations, testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, while developing practical skills in materials science and engineering.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a 4-year or advanced degree in a relevant materials field.
• Overall GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Responsibilities

• Conduct materials research and analysis to support gas turbine components.
• Perform failure analysis to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Support design changes for product improvements with focus on materials and processes.
• Assist in engine assembly, production test, and manufacturing support.
