Job summary

City of Corpus Christi is seeking a Gas Technician I to support the maintenance and operations of the city’s gas distribution system under the supervision of the Crew Foreman. You will perform semi-skilled labor, drive trucks, and assist with piping, testing, and meter work.

This full-time, non-exempt role requires a High School diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and certification to fuse poly pipe within six months.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• No experience required.
• A valid driver's license is required; out-of-state candidates must obtain a Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.
• Must be certified to fuse poly pipe within six months of hire.
• Criminal Background Check, Motor Vehicle Record Check, and Physical Exam are required.

Responsibilities

• Keep crew truck clean and assist with inventory of parts and supplies.
• Use small hand tools and perform equipment maintenance/calibration.
• Assist in pipefitting, tapping, stopple work, and general pipeline maintenance.
• Prepare tap cards and inspection reports; assist with pressure tests and system in-service tasks.
• Operate or assist with backhoe, air compressor, and other semi-heavy equipment as needed.
