Job summary

One Gas in Oklahoma is seeking a Field Operations Technician to perform non-contact customer service orders, line locating, and leakage surveys as applicable.

The role requires up to two years of related experience, ability to read maps and blueprints, operate hand tools and meters, and maintain accurate reports. A valid driver's license and willingness to work in varied terrain are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Reading maps, blueprints, plats, atlas pages, pipe sizing tables, flow charts, house numbers, dials, gauges, work logs and orders.

Responsibilities

• Drive and maintain company vehicle and operate tools/equipment.
• Assist with pipeline locating using conductive, inductive and measurement mark.
• Complete line locating procedures and comply with OKIE 811 requirements.
• Turn gas service off, remove meters, and install electronic reader transmitters (ERTs).
• Inspect and maintain leakage survey tools and equipment.
• Maintain records: orders, mileage, customer information, leak data and logs.
• Complete and/or update reports (mileage, time sheets, GIS, logs).
• Travel over uneven terrain and be prepared for emergency duties.

Performs work related to non-contact customer service orders, line locating, and leak survey (where applicable).

Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive and maintain company vehicle. Load, unload, and operate tools and equipment including but not limited to:
  • Crescent and pipe wrenches
  • Pliers and screwdrivers
  • Meters and regulators
  • Combustible gas indicators
  • Ladders
  • Carbon Monoxide Detectors
  • No Blow Equipment
  • FI Units
  • Power tools
  • Probe Bar
• Assist with pipeline locating using conductive, inductive and mark by measurement.
• Complete Line locating procedures and maintain compliance with OKIE 811 law.
• Turn gas service off, remove meters, and install electronic reader transmitters (ERTs).
• Inspect, calibrate, maintain, and/or repair leakage survey tools and equipment as applicable.
• Patrol and maintain pipeline markers.
• Complete encroachment investigations as applicable.
• Investigate non-contact customer related orders.
• Complete and/or update reports including but not limited to:
  • Equipment maintenance reports
  • Mileage reports
  • Time sheets
  • GIS Applications
  • Gas Leaks and work logs
• Maintain various records including but not limited to:
  • Orders completed
  • Miles driven
  • Customer information
  • Leak record information and maintenance work orders
  • Meter inventory
  • Leak classifications
• Install, program and troubleshoot electronic reader transmitters (ERTs).
• Inspect, calibrate, maintain, and/or repair leakage survey tools and equipment.
• Perform and/or assist with leakage surveys on pipelines as applicable.
• Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
• Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Experience

• This role typically calls for up to two years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge and/or training related to disconnects, and gas piping.
• Demonstrated ability in use, function, and maintenance of tools applicable to position.
• Experience with the application of basic arithmetic:
  • addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Working knowledge of locating gas lines.
• Working knowledge of transmission and distribution pipeline system operations.
• Working knowledge of leakage survey procedures.
• Working knowledge and training relative to:
  • Customer service and safety procedures
  • Customer service emergency procedures
  • Use of electronic communications and PragmaCAD system (where applicable)
  • Characteristics of natural gas
  • Basic customer service activities
• Experience and knowledge of basic computer usage and applicable computer software.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, plats, atlas pages, pipe sizing tables, flow charts, house numbers, dials, gauges, work logs, service orders, and applicable operation and repair manuals.
• Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.
  

Licenses and Certifications

Applicable driver's license.

Additional Requirements

• Lift and/or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 10-15 times a day; up to 20 pounds 15-20 times a day; up to 40 pounds 10-15 times a day; over 50 pounds 2-3 times a week.
• Climb ladders; stoop, kneel, and crawl on floors and bare ground to access, adjust, and/or repair gas fired equipment, meters, and equipment.
• React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.
• Smell odorant in natural gas.
• Able to operate tools and equipment required.
• Communicate and/or exchange information or instructions
• Visual ability sufficient to perform job duties.
• Travel over uneven terrain including but not limited to:
  • mud, gravel, sand, rocks, ice, and/or snow
• Walk, stand, kneel/stoop, and drive for extended periods.
• Push spud bar in ground and extract.
