Job summary

The City of Richmond is seeking several Gas Maintenance Technicians for the Gas Distribution Division to install, maintain, and repair gas pipelines and respond to emergencies. Work includes locating underground pipes, performing inspections, and OQ testing, with a focus on safety and compliance.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of related experience. A valid Virginia driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training.
• One year of related experience
• An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification.

Responsibilities

• Responding to work orders for reports of broken or leaking gas lines and requests for shutdowns to determine the threat to public safety.
• Locating the City of Richmond’s underground utilities in the City of Richmond and counties of Chesterfield and Henrico.
• Completing and passing all Operators Qualification tasks.
