The State of Rhode Island's Public Utilities Commission, Regulatory Compliance Division, is seeking a Pipeline Safety Inspector I to perform inspections of natural gas pipeline facilities and related safety duties. The role emphasizes field evaluations, use of specialized equipment, and adherence to federal and state regulations to ensure design, installation, operation, and maintenance meet standards.

• Bachelor of Science in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Experience with pipeline safety regulations and inspections is preferred.
• Knowledge of 49 CFR Parts 190-199 and Part 40 is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Assist with inspections of natural gas pipeline facilities using field evaluation forms.
• Use specialized equipment such as multi-meters and odorometers.
• Ensure compliance with state/federal regulations on design, installation, operation and maintenance.
• Review operators’ programs, maps, records and documents for compliance.
• Prepare reports including field evaluations and incident documentation.
• Attend pipeline safety training courses and participate in emergencies as needed.
