Job summary

Kinder Morgan is seeking a FIELD OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN to install, operate and maintain natural gas pipelines, compression stations, and related field equipment across multiple sites in the United States. You will perform preventive maintenance, respond to outages, monitor equipment performance and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and strong mechanical skills, with the ability to read blueprints, use hand tools and operate various equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong mechanical skills required.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs and diagrams.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Operator qualifications and/or certifications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, service and maintain valves, pipes, and pipeline appurtenances, generators, air compressors, pumps, gas compressors and engines.
• Perform general upkeep of facilities and equipment including pipeline right-of-way.
• Participate in planning for equipment shutdowns, maintenance and outages.
• Oversee construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties and monitor 811 tickets.
• Inspect work by third-party contractors and crews.
• Perform governmental compliance activities including line patrol and inspections.
• Collect condensate samples and deliver to lab for analysis.
• Determine root causes of mechanical issues and complete repairs.
• Perform minor electrical maintenance/troubleshooting.
• Start/stop equipment within defined operating parameters.
• Develop project scopes and work plans.
• Represent company in contacts with landowners and officials.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions and safety/environmental concerns.
• Maintain records of expenses for budgeting and cash flow.
• Assist in development of O&M procedures and work plans.
• Complete all required documentation and record keeping.
• Ensure work complies with standards and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate work activities to appropriate parties.
• Participate in safety programs and maintain personal safety.
