Job summary

Greenwood CPW seeks an experienced Gas Operations Director to oversee the safe, reliable operation of our natural gas distribution system. This executive role leads pipeline construction, system integrity, cathodic protection, and plant operations, reporting to the General Manager.

The successful candidate will direct a skilled team, ensure regulatory compliance with DOT/PHMSA, and drive safety, budgeting, and capital projects while serving our community with excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Utility Management, or a related field.
• Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in utility operations, including significant supervisory and leadership responsibilities.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and daily directions to Gas Department personnel.
• Direct construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas facilities to ensure safe, reliable delivery.
• Oversee system integrity programs, cathodic protection, and propane-air plant operations.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, developers, and partners on capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including DOT and PHMSA.
• Develop departmental policies, budgets, and performance reports; communicate with the General Manager.
• Engage with customers, officials, and community stakeholders to maintain service excellence.
