Job summary

The Consolidated Edison Company of New York is seeking a Junior Designer to support Gas Engineering by rotating through Gas Distribution Engineering, Transmission Engineering and Project Management & Customer Programs. You will design and draw gas main and service layouts, interpret construction documents, and prepare estimates while learning company standards.

Responsibilities include planning, drafting in AutoCAD 2D, and occasional field visits. The role offers growth toward the Sr.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2 years drafting experience or an AAS in a related tech field.
• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and capable of interpreting construction drawings.
• Experience reading civil, structural, and architectural plans.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel.
• Driver's License required.
• Willingness to work in various fields and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, draw, map, and estimate layout work for new facilities.
• Evaluate distribution system capacity to support load growth.
• Draft in AutoCAD 2D; render 3D designs as needed.
• Read and interpret drawings, including field sketches and plates.
• Occasionally visit fields; support Sr. Designer path.
