Job summary

Con Edison in New York seeks a Junior Designer to rotate through Gas Distribution Engineering, Transmission Engineering and Project Management & Customer Programs. You will learn to design gas mains and services, create layouts, and estimate work while updating maps and ensuring standards compliance.

You will gain hands-on experience reading construction documents, performing field visits, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, with an eye toward advancing to Sr. Designer.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 2 years of drafting experience or an AAS in a tech field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D; 3D design knowledge preferred.
• Ability to read civil, structural, and architectural drawings.
• Knowledge of MicroStation and eGIS preferred.
• MS Excel and general computer skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, draw, map, and estimate layouts for new gas facilities.
• Evaluate distribution capacity and support load growth.
• Draft using AutoCAD 2D; render 3D designs.
• Read and interpret construction drawings including gas, electric, and pipelines.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare field visits as required.
