Job summary

TC Energy is hiring an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Controls or Measurement Technician in Portland, IN. You will troubleshoot, maintain, and operate natural gas measurement equipment, compressor stations, and related systems across Indiana and surrounding areas.

Role requires self-motivation, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and readiness for on-call and travel as needed to support pipeline operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a related industry.
• Thorough understanding of stop work authority (SWA) and safe work practices.
• Knowledge and understanding of lock out/tag out (LOTO) procedures.
• Basic knowledge of engine mechanics.
• Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related software.
• Associates degree to include courses in engine maintenance or electricity/electronics.
• Experience with Allen Bradley and Bristol controls.
• Experience with various gas measurement testing equipment.
• Thorough understanding of test equipment used to maintain control systems.
• Experience with PLCs, pneumatic and electronic valves, transmitters, switches and regulators.
• Ability to interpret technical reference documents.
• Have and maintain a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Travel readiness and willingness for on-call/emergency work.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, repair, and maintain compressor station, meter station, communication systems and related facilities.
• Oversee, direct, and perform installation, start up and repair of measurement and regulation equipment (meters, gauges, flow computers, regulators, valves).
• Maintain routine and major maintenance on natural gas driven compressor units and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot, operate, maintain, calibrate, and repair electronic, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Maintain power, process controls, PLCs, electric generation equipment and related instrumentation.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain wiring and fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment to locate and fix issues.
• Inspect electrical systems for hazards and compliance with codes.
• Test electrical systems and circuits with ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
• Receive and manage equipment documentation and serve as facility technical resource.
• Perform diagnostic tests, calibrations, and replacements of measurement equipment.
• Prepare records for inspections and maintenances (DOT, odorant tests, gas quality).
• Coordinate with field personnel for pipeline maintenance or emergencies.
