Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking an entry-to-principal level Natural Gas Materials Engineer to support safe, reliable gas transmission and distribution. The role focuses on evaluating materials, qualification, testing, and standardization while collaborating with Operations, Engineering, Compliance, and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• 0+ years relevant engineering experience.
• EIT/FE preferred; PE registration may be required depending on business need.

Responsibilities

• Applies technical standards and concepts to limited-scope assignments.
• Develops technical documentation (designs, calculations, reports, standards).
• Provides field engineering support for projects under supervision.
• Leads projects or parts of projects (design, procurement support, installation, commissioning).
• Supports bid/evaluation processes with basic analysis and communication across business areas.
• Coordinates with operations, engineering, compliance, and supply chain to support risk-informed decisions.
• Mentors interns and technicians and supports budgeting/forecasting activities.
