This full-time daytime role requires the ability to work outdoors in varied weather, pass a drug screen, travel locally, and be available for overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Stand/walk long periods; lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground gas lines using locating equipment and mark areas.
• Occasionally perform hand digging to uncover utilities.
• Identify other utilities as project requires.
• Follow damage prevention guidelines and safety procedures.
• Daytime, full-time work with typical locate turnaround times.
• Be available for overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts (including nights).

Job description

• Use locating equipment to determine the location of gas lines in a designated area and mark the area with paint and flags to prevent damage to utility infrastructure.
• Some hand digging to unearth gas lines may be required.
• Develop knowledge and understanding of underground utility infrastructure.
• Follow all company, client, state, and federal damage prevention guidelines.
• As a technician in our Advanced Gas Operations division, you may locate other utilities in addition to gas lines, depending on the project to which you are assigned.
• These are daytime, full‑time positions.
• We have a 48‑hour turnaround time on many locates, which means we generally work the day after holidays and some weekends, as needed.
• Must be able to work overtime, weekend shifts, and on‑call shifts (including nights and weekends), dependent upon the needs of the business.

Requirements

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Previous outdoor experience is a plus.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on‑call shifts as needed.
• Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out‑of‑area or overnight travel may be expected.
• Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety‑sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
• Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
• Computer proficiency.
• Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, as well as maps and prints; possess basic math skill to calculate distances.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
• Customer service experience is a plus.
