Your Responsibilities as a Locator
  • Use locating equipment to determine the location of gas lines and mark the area with paint and flags to prevent damage to utility infrastructure.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of underground utility infrastructure.
  • Follow all company, client, state, and federal damage‑prevention guidelines.
  • When assigned, locate other utilities in addition to gas lines.

These are daytime, full‑time positions that require overtime, weekend, and on‑call shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.

Requirements
  • Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Available to work overtime, weekends, and on‑call shifts as needed.
  • Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out‑of‑area or overnight travel may be expected.
  • Able to pass a drug screen (safety‑sensitive position).
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods, bend and stoop, and lift heavy items up to 75 lb.
  • Able to differentiate colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
  • Proficiency with technology.
  • Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints and perform basic math calculations.
  • Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
