Job summary

USIC Locating Services, LLC is seeking outdoor-oriented technicians to locate gas lines and related utilities in designated areas. You will mark locations, sometimes perform light digging, and ensure safety guidelines are followed on each site.

No prior locating experience is required, but a safety-conscious, dependable candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment with opportunities for advancement and training.

Qualifications

• Able and willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out-of-area or overnight travel may be expected.
• Able to pass a drug screen (safety-sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying terrain; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
• Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, as well as maps and prints; basic math skills.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners. Customer service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Use locating equipment to determine the location of gas lines and mark the area to prevent damage. Some hand digging may be required.
• Develop knowledge of underground utility infrastructure.
• Follow all company and regulatory damage-prevention guidelines.
• As part of AGO, may locate other utilities depending on project.
