Job summary

Black Hills Energy in Fayetteville, AR is seeking a Gas Operations Technician to safely perform field operations including installation, repair and maintenance of natural gas distribution facilities. You will handle customer requests and represent the company in the community.

This role requires driving and a valid driver's license, with travel up to 10%. Level I requires no experience; Level II requires 2 years in gas/construction; Senior requires 4 years. Excellent safety and teamwork a must.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• This position requires driving responsibilities and a valid driver’s license.
• Travel up to 10% of the time may be required.

Responsibilities

• Initiates gas service and performs leak investigations and repairs.
• Proficient in underground line locating of gas lines using approved electronic locating equipment.
• Reading gas meters
• Above and underground leak classification and repairs.
• Gas measurement, pressure regulation and over pressure protection installations.
• Conduct Load Surveys
• Complete work orders via electronic dispatch equipment (iPad or iPhone)
• Perform leak repair on aboveground facilities using approved methods
• Complete turn on of customer meter and testing appliances/equipment
• Install and program encoder receiver transmitters (ERTs)
• Perform Odorant Checks
• Investigation of carbon monoxide, gas leak complaints; grade leaks.
• Inspect and protect appurtenances for corrosion
• Complete 3rd party damage investigations
• Other duties as required.
