Job summary

MidAmerican Energy Company is offering a summer internship for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, mechanical, or industrial engineering. Interns will gain hands-on experience by working on gas facilities projects and collaborating with engineering professionals in a fast-paced energy environment.

Responsibilities include drawing creation, field work support, data analysis, and coordination with engineers and contractors.

Qualifications

College student enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in electrical, civil, mechanical or industrial engineering.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Available to work May–August 2027.

Responsibilities

Create engineering drawings for proposed and existing gas facilities.
Assist with design of gas distribution projects and reliability improvements.
Assist with field work including inspection, staking, measuring and record verification.
Coordinate design and construction with consulting engineers and contractors.
Assist with data analysis, summaries and reporting.
Enter inspections and record data in databases.
Update gas distribution maps and records as necessary.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested.
