Job summary

The City of Long Beach is seeking three Engineering Technician I – NC positions in the Gas Engineering Division, located at the Gas Campus in Long Beach, CA 90806. These roles support the planning, design, and management of gas infrastructure, assist construction, and help ensure safe, reliable, and compliant utility service for residents and businesses.

Candidates should have drafting experience, familiarity with CAD/CAM/CAM, GIS tools, and the ability to work 25–40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High school drafting with approximately two years of civil or other engineering drafting experience.
• Six units of college level drafting and one year of experience in civil or other engineering work.
• Equivalent training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Lays out, letters, makes computations and prepares drawings of streets, structures, sewers, storm drains, harbor areas, gas, water, and other utility plans.
• Draws, traces and updates maps and charts.
• Prepares visual aids for public presentations.
• Performs field investigations and surveys.
• Assists in developing project standards and specifications.
