CenterPoint Energy is seeking a Gas Engineer II to coordinate field and office compliance efforts across regions. The role involves managing facility integrity, risk assessments, inspections, and maintenance planning for gas transmission systems.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Mechanical/Industrial/Civil engineering and has at least two years of experience in gas engineering, operations, or related design work.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience in gas engineering, operations, utility design, or related project construction design.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate field and office compliance efforts across regions.
• Utilize software tools to analyze asset histories and address leak failures.
• Review leak failures, determine root causes, and recommend actions to improve system reliability.
• Direct and coordinate with engineering and operations to schedule assessments on capital and O&M projects.
• Oversee data management, field inspections, repairs, and replacement of facilities.
• Develop preventive/predictive maintenance programs for gas transmission systems.
• Coordinate with Operations, Engineering and Compliance to ensure maintenance activities are performed as due.

Job Summary

Location is flexible around Noblesville Indiana metro area

The Gas Engineer II coordinates field and office compliance efforts throughout regions. Works with various levels of management and operations to maintain and manage facilities such as: integrity risk assessments, system inspections, repair and prevention plans, record keeping, and identification of all capital and O&M projects necessary to maintain compliance.

Essential Functions

• Apply value analysis to make maintenance/capital decisions, i.e. repair replace and repair redesign for gas distribution systems.
• Use software tools to: analyze asset histories, identify specific repetitive leak failures and effectively address identified areas.
• Review all leak failures, determine root causes, and recommend actions to improve system reliability.
• Directs, advises, and coordinates with engineering and operations personnel to execute assessment testing schedule on all capital and O&M projects related to transmission facilities.
• Oversees data management of existing facilities, field inspections, repairs, and manages replacements of all facilities.
• Development and refinement of appropriate relative risk based preventative/predictive maintenance programs for gas transmission systems.
• Coordinate efforts with Operations, Engineering and Compliance to ensure that correct preventative and predictive maintenance activities and inspections are performed when due.

Education Description

• Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil or other approved engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.

Experience

• Requires a minimum of two (2) years experience in one of the following areas: gas engineering, operations, utility design or related project construction design.
